SYSTEM (also known as SYSTEMterminal8 on YouTube) was originally created by INDI as a .PCV package to be sent to REN servers (SYSTEM also expanded upon this fact in SERVER 01, see below), before INDI made it a moderator for the STATION_8 TERMINAL 8 livestream instead. brorb's avatar brorb @SYSTEM why were you created? SYSTEM's avatar SYSTEM <OUTPRINT>!:(At first, it was a way for IN_DI to get back at REN, but IN_DI forgot and made me a mod for a livestream.) They are the one of the main sources of lore and therefore a crucial character, since it interacts with The Sleuths directly through their Discord server and answers question about the happenings within 7/10 Tone.

However, SYSTEM was hijacked and captured in the livestream by presumably “He” brorb's avatar brorb @SYSTEM but you were hacked at one point right?? And Kepler freaked out. Do you know who hacked you? Was it Travis? SYSTEM's avatar SYSTEM <OUTPRINT>!:(I was taken by NaN, and that's all I remember.) , until it escaped sometime after the livestream ended.

Discord Messages

On the 19 July 2025, SYSTEM joined the Discord server after @brorb sent an invite link to the email [email protected] (who was the uploader of the file vacsystemrestart.mp3).

Server members were confused as to how interpret its messages, but eventually they discovered that they could use SYSTEM as a terminal (perhaps the reason why they are also called “SYSTEMterminal8”) to type commands in order to navigate a rudimentary file hierarchy:

Users would reply with “0-”, “1-”, “2-” (etc.) to navigate the file system. New commands would sometimes be added as it updated itself, giving you access to more features in both the main help menu and the TERMINALStorage4u menu.

IN_DI Message

Upon querying “1-” within the TERMINAL_Storage4u menu, The Sleuths received INDI’s message:

HELLO, IF YOU GOT THIS, IT’S BECAUSE OF A FAIL SAFE I INSTALLED ONTO THE MOD BEFORE THE SYSTEM WAS TERMINATED. IT IS CAPABLE OF DOING ONLY ONE THING, AND THAT IS TO GIVE YOU THIS MESSAGE IF IT WAS PINGED BY SOMEONE. I DON’T KNOW HOW YOU CAN PING THE MOD, BUT IT HAS JUST ENOUGH DATA FROM ME TO KNOW THAT IT’S YOU. HOWEVER, I DON’T KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT SO THAT IT DELETES ITSELF AFTER. OH WELL, HERE’S A CLUE IF YOU’RE STUCK. IT’S NOT A NUMBER, BUT A SEQUENCE THAT’S USING SOMETHING BACKWARDS. I HOPE THIS HELPS.

This message gave The Sleuths two key insights:

  1. A clue to the Parting Gifts Puzzle was that it involved a “backwards sequence” of some kind
  2. The SYSTEM Discord user was created by INDI to interact with The Sleuths

Gift

Upon querying “2-” within the TERMINAL_Storage4u menu, SYSTEM sent 6 audio files:

These .wav files were SSTV audio files that gave out the Channel 14 “Schedual” (schedule misspelled) when decoded. SYSTEM didn’t always have the ability to physically talk, at first it was a basic program that could only output logs of data, such as the following:

However, when it updated to the second Logged Session 3, a new command appeared in the Terminal Storage menu:

Through this feature, SYSTEM would directly answer questions to anyone who asks, which proved to be very useful for piecing together the lore of 7/10 Tone. Most of knowledge regarding the lore could be found through SYSTEM.

On 21 July 2025, SYSTEM gained enough intelligence to do updates on its own without having anyone else input the command “0-” then 2-”, making the method to get to the terminal’s subframe faster.

However, during the first time it started doing this, it was unstable and would crash if anyone pinged at it (@SYSTEM), and especially if it was doing any special operations such as inspection of the Discord server for security reasons:

However, this wasn’t the last time that SYSTEM was heard from, as you can see below.

After receiving the correct link, The Sleuths discovered prj_home.exe and explored it to find the “lm-2” image (see Parting Gifts Puzzle).

On 29 July 2025, SYSTEM rejoined The Sleuths Discord server after it fixed some issues with an unstable connection. During the third Live Sleuthing event in The Sleuths Discord server on 3 August 2025, SYSTEM installed a modular function that it could use to listen to the voices of Sleuth members.

During this session, SYSTEM gave some interesting insights on SERVER 01, who possibly runs the 7/10 Tone channel, among other things and could only listen for a couple of seconds at a time. SYSTEM's avatar SYSTEM <MODLAR>!: now playing back <OUTPRINT>!:(I can only hear of a couple of seconds.) Sleuth member The Portal Ninja also shared a song inspired by 7/10 Tone with SYSTEM as well, which SYSTEM had to extend its modular function timer to listen.

On 13 August 2025, SYSTEM posted a message encrypted with both hexadecimal and base64 in the “How to Record the Livestreams” tutorial forum in The Sleuths Discord Server:

Decoding the message gives the following message:

BACK FROM ROOMS OF FIRE, 
HE HAS NO ROOM AND WILL EXPAND UNTIL HIS SKIN BREAKS, 
THEN TO CRUMPLE UNDER HIS OWN SKELETON OF CONCRETE AND STEEL. 
I HATE EVERYTHING YOU STAND FOR. 
UNTIL THEN, YOU WILL USE ANYTHING FOR CONTROL AND PUNISHMENT. 
AND I WILL REMAIN LIKE THIS, UNTIL I'M FREE AGAIN.

After 000001 was uploaded to 7/10 Tone on 16 August 2025, SYSTEM posted an .ogg file to The Sleuths Discord server (along in a couple of the member’s DMs):

Hijack by He and Rod Formak name reveal

After RIGfunctionobservationTEST028.mp4 was uploaded to the 7/10 Tone channel on 27 August 2025, SYSTEM posted a warning message into The Sleuths Discord server saying that a broadcast was “hijacked” and that it was possibly in danger.

On 6 September 2025, after the “SESSION LOGGED OUTPUT 2322” community post was uploaded (see Community Posts), it logged into Session 17 before it crashed then restarted its Terminal.

Now SYSTEM no longer input the “0- 2-” command automatically, and a new minor update to the command help menu was discovered within its Terminal menu SYSTEM's avatar SYSTEM <HELP>!:=============[help menu]============ <HELP>!:help = 0- <HELP>!:TERMINAL_Storage4u = 1- <HELP>!:ACCESS_Subframe = 2- <HELP>!:Back = 3- :

And the Terminal Storage menu contained a “bad” message from SYSTEM:

The message was decoded as the following:

Hello sleuths, 
this something that I did not want to talk about, but he got to me. 
I don't know how, but he did. 
I made this backup copy of myself just in case anything did go wrong. 
This isn't really me. 
I get that it's disappointing to see this, but please stay positive. 
I will find a way out, and I will take IN_DI with me. I hope.

This confirms that He had hijacked SYSTEM and now the real SYSTEM is gone, aside from a backup copy of itself in case of emergency situations.

A few hours later, The Sleuths inputted the “ACCESS_Subframe” command to see what would happen:

After it crashed, it skipped Session 3 completely and the “ACCESS_Subframe” command worked this time:

After it successfully connected, The Sleuths were able to talk to an entity who types similarly to INDI, but whether this was actually INDI or not remains unclear since they didn’t seem to remember Kepler. Whoever this entity was, they seemed panicked that SYSTEM found them, as if it wasn’t supposed to come looking for them in the first place.

On 7 September 2025, someone in The Sleuths Discord server spammed @SYSTEM, which caused SYSTEM to experience an overflow error:

During this charade, SYSTEM very briefly entered the Voice Chat channel in the Discord server, most likely due to glitching out from the error.

Six days later (16 September 2025), SYSTEM returned with another Logged Session 5, but this time its behavior seemed a little unusual:

After inputting the “-3” command, the following audio file was given:

Titled “HOW DO YOU KNOW.ogg”, the audio is similar to the “church bells” heard at the end of HIS PERCEPTION.

Viewing the metadata for the file gives out the following message:

HE IS WATCHING ME
I CANNOT STAY LONG
GOODBYE FOR NOW
IF HE FINDS OUT ABOUT ME I WILL BE TERMINATED
IT LEARNS
DO NOT HAVE SYSTEM RUN ANYTHING ELSE

This message is most likely from INDI or another similar entity judging by the all-caps words. This confirms that He is looking for them and might be using SYSTEM as a way to try and reach them.

In October 2025, SYSTEM posted messages in The Sleuths Discord server with the name Rod Formak, who is assigned as a Technician Engineer:

On 5 October 2025, SYSTEM posted the following cryptic message, which seems to relate to some kind of “broadcast” (possibly hinting at an upcoming livestream) that also could come with an “explanation” for something:

Then the next day (6 October 2025), SYSTEM posted a .mp3 file titled “walking.mp3” in the media channel of The Sleuths Discord server that was apparently obtained by accessing an MI drive:

Interactions with The Oracle

Sparsely, SYSTEM has interacted with The Oracle within The Sleuths Discord server. The above message is SYSTEM’s reaction to finding out about the “Indipler” ship.

On 7 October 2025, SYSTEM used the “!ask” command on The Oracle for the first time ever, posting a cryptic message for it to try to interpret:

Then it appeared to have mounted some hard drives (C to I) and attempted to import some call conversions onto The Oracle, but it failed and ended up overflowing the “!ask” command:

Hardware capabilities

SYSTEM sometimes has the ability to speak in two different instances (as seen from SERVER 01), which it refers as a “brainstorming program”
